Dobbs Ferry

Text from William Wade

Dobbs Ferry is a small settlement with a steamboat wharf, the name of which is not unfamiliar to the student of American history. It communicates by a ferry with the opposite shore at the foot of the Palisades, a little north of the boundary line between New Jersey and New York. From this point, both banks of the Hudson belong to the State of New York.
